Q.3 What are the additional requirements if passport has expired more than three years ago?

Fresh police verification is one of the criterion which would take place if you apply for re-issue of passport after expiry of old passport more than three years ago.

Q.4 The pages in my Passport booklet have exhausted , but it has a validity of 5 years.What is the procedure to apply for new booklet?

Damaged Passport can appear due to many circumstances. Damaged passport is classified based on the type of damage, i.e.:
1.Damaged Passport – Passport number is not readable, name is inelegible and Photo is not clear.
2.Damaged beyond recognition/ mutilated/smudged entries/washed out.

Q. 7 What is the procedure to change photograph of a child in the Passport ?

To change the photograph of a child in the Passport, one needs to adopt the procedure of reissue of Passport .

Q.8 What type of photograph is required in a Passport ?

Please provide recent photographs (not more than 6 months old) of yourself. The photographs should be in color and:
1.Taken against a white coloured background so that features are distinguishable and in contrast against the background.
2.Clear and of good quality.
3.Printed on normal photographic paper.
4.Unmounted – 3.5cm x 3.5cm in size. – Visa applications only.
5.Unmounted – 4cm x 4cm in size. – Passport applications. Should show full view of face (without sunglasses and a fashion cap or a hat).
6.The face should be in the middle of the frame.

Q.9 When and how one can apply for renewal ?

A passport can be reissued or renewed on the expiry, or up to one year before expiry, of any passport, which had an initial validity of 10 years. To apply for re-issue of a passport, you need to fill out the Application Form No. 1 along with two latest identical passport-size photographs. You also need to enclose your current or recently expired passport (in case your latest passport is an additional booklet issued to the original passport, you are also required to submit all the additional booklets plus the original passport).

Q.10 I have a one-month old baby? Does the baby require a separate passport in his name or his / her name can be endorsed in one of the parents passport ?

The practice of endorsement of child’s name in parent’s passports is not allowed anymore. As per the amended instructions , a minor should have a separate passport.So the baby would require a separate passport in this case.
